Arda Turan: Singer's broken nose, referee's hand to jail
Turkish player Arda Turan is getting out of control after demanding 32 months in prison. That was after the player on loan at Istanbul with Basaksehir was found to have been beaten and brandished a weapon to a Turkish artist, Berkay Sahin.
Turan's behavior after his departure from Barcelona was in the spotlight. Turan was recently involved in a dispute with Berkay Sahin at a nightclub. The pop artist even broke his nose and Turan even held up a gun.
Aged 32, he was also charged with sexual harassment, gun shooting, panic, ill-treatment and illegal possession of firearms. This led to him being sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
However, because he did not appeal to Turan, he would not be arrested. Unless he commits another crime within the next five years, the police will immediately arrest him.
"I have confidence in justice for Arda Turan to serve her sentence," Berkay's lawyer said in a statement published in the Sabah Daily in October last year.
Ozlem Ada Sahin, Berkay's wife, said that Arda Turan made an irresponsible statement before attacking her husband. The former Atletico player was reportedly carrying a firearm to the hospital where Berkay was being treated.
Turan actually lost control of his emotions last October. Istanbul Basaksehir has been fined € 370,000 for "behavior and attitudes that are not in line with the club's ethics. He was also denied 16 matches in May 2018 after hitting a line judge.
