Spain coach, Robert Moreno, really recognizes the role of Sergio Ramos for the team. But, if Ramos never shows up, who will get kicked out of the first team?
Ramos is currently the captain of La Furia Roja. In addition, Ramos is the most senior player at the moment with 165 caps. Naturally, if Ramos is so relied upon to lead a team that is mostly filled with many young players.
Ramos certainly knows the weight of the task, given that Spain is trying to get up after the last six years. European Cup 2020 qualification is the closest momentum for Spain to start a new era.
But, Ramos also received a warning from Moreno as Spanish entrenador. Moreno wants every player he calls up to his best form to be a starter, Ramos is no exception
If Ramos will play poorly then he will not hesitate to cross him off the starting eleven list or not even called.
"For now, Sergio will definitely play. But I want him to think that if he does not perform well, he will not play," Moreno was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
Moreno's remarks could not be separated from Ramos's poor performance in the first three weeks of LaLiga with Real Madrid. Consecutive draws are considered inseparable from Ramos blunders, especially when detained 2-2 by Villarreal.
"I am delighted to have Sergio to assist the young players because he will be very helpful. We have an exceptional generation of central defenders and I don't think we should just look for a good companion for Sergio, but also his successor," he continued.
"He must have a competitor. I can only say that he is good when working with him. He is so extraordinary. He is an example for everyone, inside and outside the training session. Sergio is one of the players I always demand to play well."
