First, the offer allows him to no longer be under Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola. Second, the offer came from Arsenal, which he had maintained for a long time while playing actively.

But in the end, Arteta decided to stay at the Etihad stadium. The 37-year-old then explained several reasons that prevented him from accepting Arsenal's proposal.
"Sometimes I want to go, but I hold myself back," Arteta told SER Catalunya. "The first time was different, the second was entirely because of me," he continued.

"First of all, I don't want to be rushed and I feel like I don't really have to take that step," said the man who also defended Everton.

The first reason, said Arteta, is related to the problem of experience. He thinks it's important to build the game the way you want it to.
"This is an important condition, especially during my first experience, which is important and finally ... I learned that it is important to develop what you want, whatever the clarity of your vision," he continued.

Then the third reason is that Arteta did not want to violate what he said some time ago. He recalled his promise of being loyal to Manchester City and was reluctant to lie.
