Only three minutes after returning from the dressing room, Germany finally broke the deadlock. A volley that was released by Halstenberg successfully broke into Bailey Peacock-Farrell's goal.

An hour after the game went on, Northern Ireland coach Michael O'Neill brought in Gavin Whyte to increase the intensity of his team's attacks. Whyte also had become an attack actor who was able to trouble Neuer.

When the game looked like it would end in a one-goal victory for Germany, Gnabry scored at the end of the match after continuing Kai Havertz's breakthrough bait. Germany also took home a 2-0 victory.
