Manchester City will build the Kompany statue in the Etihad stadium
Manchester City wants to pay homage to its former captain, Vincent Kompany. Premier League champions will wake him up to a statue.
Kompany separated from City at the end of the 2018/2019 season, ending 11 years of cooperation. He returned to Belgium to become a player-manager of Anderlecht, his childhood club.
Kompany's witnessing match took place at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday 12/09/2019, early this morning. In a match where Kompany himself was sidelined through injury, City and All-Stars legends were balanced 2-2.
City then announced that they would build a statue in honor of Kompany. The statue will be installed outside Etihad.
In addition, Kompany will also be the name of the road connecting the academy field to the first team's training center. This route will be called Vincent Kompany Crescent, complete with a mosaic celebrating Manchester United's goals in 2012 as a goal scorer.
"It is an extraordinary honor to be recognized by this special club, and our eleven-year trip to Manchester has changed my life and I'm happy to be able to play a small role in turning the club's history into this club. Time," said the 33-year-old man. Sky sports.
