Lionel Messi is free to leave Barcelona anytime
Barcelona Vice-President Jordi Cardoner is open to vote on the possibility that Lionel Messi will leave the club later this season. He acknowledged that Messi was indeed bound by a special contract.
It seems that Messi's contract includes a clause that frees him to leave the club for free at the end of this season. This clause certainly triggers a variety of reactions among Barcelona fans.
However, Cardoner points out that this clause is Barca's appreciation of his classmates. In other words, Barca do not want to stop Messi in the interest of the club and Messi is free to do what he wants.
This clause does not make Barca also afraid of losing Messi. Read the full review below, Bolaneters!
Quoting Sport, Cardoner explained that Messi has the right to do what he wants. Messi has given much to Barcelona and this clause is a way for Barca to pay back Messi's contribution.
"We are calm, he [Messi] has generated a lot of positive enthusiasm in our dressing room, Leo will do what he thinks is the best and the contract is special because of himself," the cardinal said.
"[This start-up clause at the end of the season] is a franchise that we have created for him and other players who deserve it, and he can come and leave the club whenever he wants."
In addition, Cardoner also talked about Barca's efforts to bring Neymar. He knows this negotiation has left problems this season. Because of this, it's better to forget Neymar to focus on this season.
"He [Neymar] is happy with that, the majority of players - if not all - are happy at Barcelona," Cardoner continued.
"The Neymar story is something we need to emphasize, wait and see what happens, now we are competing in La Liga and Neymar is something we must forget."
