Gerrard hopes to fight Rangers against MU in the European League

The Europa League group draw will take place Friday (8/30/2019), evening. Rangers manager Steven Gerrard hopes to face a big team, Manchester United is one of them.

Up to 48 teams have qualified for the Europa League group stages. All clubs will be divided into 12 groups. The draw will take place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

MU is in pot 1 with other teams such as Arsenal, Sevilla, AS Roma, FC Porto and Lazio.

Meanwhile, Rangers occupy the fourth pot. They are with other low coefficient teams such as CFR Cluj and Olexandriya.

Gerrard is aware that his team has the potential to meet the winning team. He will not talk about it even if he belongs to the same group as MU.

"Maybe we can't avoid meeting Manchester United, I hope we get it," Gerrard told Sky Sports.

"We want to play against big European teams and there are a number of teams there and that will be a good test for us against the best teams."

"Rangers are still limited to the group stage and the boss reminded us at the start of qualification that we need to use European football for Rangers."

"This is a marketing point for all the players who come here, we want to take the club to the highest level and as players, we want to compete with teams from various countries," he added.

Asked about the strategy to be implemented in the duel with Man United, Gerrard smiled and gave a full-scented response.

"I have no problem parking the bus at Old Trafford," said the former Liverpool player.
