Family Factors Make Koscielny Choose Bordeaux
Bordeaux director Joe DaGrosa revealed that the main reason why Laurent Koscielny chose his club was his family. Koscielny, said DaGrosa, was not too worried about his salary problem.
"We are not the only club in France considered by Koscielny, but Bordeaux is at the top and the desire is to return to France, especially to Bordeaux where he has a family," DaGrosa told Soccerway.
Arsenal actually want the 34-year-old to stay until his contract expires in 2020. However, Koscielny insisted on moving and refused to participate in the Gunners' pre-season tour.
In the end, players were allowed to settle in Bordeaux with a transfer of 5 million pounds sterling (around 86 billion rupees).
"I also think that this concerns discussions about the problem of giving young Arsenal players an opportunity, Koscielny has the right to think about his life after quitting playing and I think Bordeaux is a good place to live in the world. The world of football in the coming decades."
"We are happy to welcome someone of his level and experience, who has long-term goals with the club, after the end of his sports career. These are the things we say to him, and I think that this is in harmony with him and that it has nothing to do with salary, where would he want to go with his family at the end of his career? "
"So we assured him and insisted that he came to the family, that he would feel at home, that he did not come to an ordinary club," DaGrosa said.
