Euro 2020 Qualification Results: Belotti Two Goals, Italy Hit Armenia 3-1

Italy maintains its perfect record in the 2020 European Cup Qualifiers. Gli Azzurri had just beaten Armenia 3-1 through a pair of Andrea Belotti goals.
In the match held at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium on Thursday (5/9/2019) night WIB, Italy appeared dominant with 74 percent ball possesion and made 18 attempts, 10 of them on goal.


But, Armenia won first through Alexander Karapetian in the 11th minute before Belotti evened the score in the 28th minute. Armenia lost its Karapetian red card in the 45th minute.

Italy's superior number of players added two goals in the second half through Lorenzo Pellegrini and Belotti. Italy is still perfect from five matches topped Group J with 15 points. Armenia is third with six points.

The game

Armenia surprised Italy by playing aggressively from the early minutes. They had several chances through attacks carried out by Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Aleksandre Karapetyan, and Ghazaryan.

The result in the 11th minute, Karapetyan gave Armenia a 1-0 lead. Starting the ball which was taken from Nicolo Barella, Armenia made an invasion of the Italian defense and the ball ended at the feet of Karapetyan who was aiming for the far post Gianluigi Donnarumma.

After being broken in, Italy like jerked and struck back. One golden opportunity was obtained by Federico Bernardeschi in the 15th minute but his strike was pushed over by Armenian goalkeeper Aram Airapetyan.

A wave of Italian attacks paid off in the 28th minute. Emerson Palmieri stabbed in from the left side and gave a cross which was struck by Belotti in front of goal.
Shortly after the goal, Bernardeschi almost made a goal after the soccer ball headed directly towards the goal, but Airapetyan could dismiss it. The mission of Armenia to rise even more difficult because of losing one player at the end of the first round.

Is the goalscorer, Karapetyan, who received a second yellow card after caught elbowing Leonardo Bonucci. Whereas a few minutes earlier he also got a yellow card because of the fuss with Marco Verratti.

The advantage of the number of players maximized by Italy in the second round. They attacked Armenia to immediately score his second goal.

Lorenzo Pellegrini was finally able to bring Italy back ahead 2-1 in the 77th minute. Bonucci provided the ball into the penalty box and Pellegrini easily gore it to break the Armenian net.

It only took three minutes for Italy to increase the advantage to 3-1. Stefano Sensi pushed into the penalty box and gave the ball to Belotti. Apart from escorting two defenders, Belotti shot and the ball hit the post before entering the goal because it hit the back of Airapetyan.

Until the fight ended, Italy still won 3-1. Belotti scored again in injury time but was ruled out for being caught offside.
