The oldest club in Italy celebrates 126th anniversary

The oldest club in Italian Serie A Genoa FC, Saturday (09/09/2019) celebrates its 126th anniversary. The 126th anniversary is celebrated by Genoa fans at Piaza Ferrari.

The club nicknamed I Rossoblu was founded on September 7, 1893. Interestingly, when it was first established, Genoa was formed to represent England in international competition. It is not surprising that the Genoese shirt was originally inspired by the English national team.

At first, Genoa did not allow Italy to defend this club. The founders of Genoa came from England, were James Spensley, Charles de Grave, Daniel G. Fawcus and several English sailors who settled in Italy.
