England: Sancho replaces Rashford Counter Kosovo

The England national team will play Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho in the 2020 European Cup Qualifiers match against Kosovo at St Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday (9/11).

Coach Gareth Southgate entered the name of the 19-year-old in the England starting squad in the 6th match of the 10 qualifying matches. This was stated by SunSport.

According to him, Jadon Sancho had the confidence and maturity to appear pressing as a regular starter for the Three Lions even though he was still a teenager.

"He is not the player we are looking for not to play. He can provide real competition in our squad. Because, where he plays at his club, he is still a little under the radar in terms of the quality of his appearance and the level he plays every week, "said Gareth Southgate.
By playing Sancho, Southgate will likely bench Marcus Rashford, who has to make way for Sancho to post his 8th caps on the national team.

"He believes in his own abilities. He used to work very hard without the ball. He is also very diligent in working, in addition to the fact he is very eager to beat opponents, "added the 49-year-old England national team coach.

"He can make decisions quickly to be able to find the bait, and also choose the right bait target - it's more often than not," said Southgate.

His senior who is also the captain of Liverpool, Jordan Henderson, also commented on Sancho. "He was very, very pleasant. As a fan, I'm sure you want to watch the game of a player like Sancho, "said the 29-year-old midfielder.

"He wants to get attention, he is smart enough for the young player category, his moves on the field are also very good, he produces good goals and assists. He continues to improve all the time, "added Henderson.

Later, the Three Lions will be strengthened by Sancho on the front lines together with Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling in the face of Kosovo at dawn later. But, even though Kane scored a hat trick in the match against Bulgaria at the weekend, Southgate insisted the Tottenham Hotspur star was not a player who would "not be touched".

"I don't think I have a player that can't be examined, because this is a dangerous route for any team and things like that won't be healthy for the player himself," Southgate said.

In addition, wing backs Ben Chilwell and Trent Alexander-Arnold will later replace Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier when the British national team host Kosovo later.

Currently, Kosovo is only a small team from the Balkans that miraculously is able to perch in second place in Group A European Cup Qualification 2020, only one point adrift of England at the top of the group and still has one match in hand.
