Didier Deschamps: Griezmann remains France's executor

Didier Deschamps, coach of the French team, defended Antoine Griezmann, who twice failed to execute a penalty. He will remain confident to become the executioner of the Blues.
Griezmann was in the limelight during the qualification for the European Blues Cup in 2020. When France against Albania and Andorra, Griezmann failed to score with a white point despite a big rooster victory.

When he faced Albania, his shot hit the goalpost. Meanwhile, against Andorra, his shot from the left corner was shot by goalkeeper Josep Gomez. He also became the first French player to fail twice in a penalty run in the last decade.

Griezmann can still joke that his failure to execute a penalty is due to the fact that his wife does not see him competing. But after the match against Andorra, Griezmann could not hide his disappointment.

"The fact that there is no penalty is boring again, but it shows that if you have to continue working, you will never be able to do the job," Griezmann was quoted as saying by ESPN.

Nevertheless, France coach Deschamps continued to retain Griezmann. He added that if France gets another penalty and Griezmann plays later, the Barcelona player will remain the executioner.
"Antoine, he never took a risk, when he had to score after his penalty," Deschamps told RMC Sport, quoted by Omnisport.

"When the penalty was decisive, he was not shaking. These were only two failures," Deschamps said.
"I can talk to him (about it), but he knows that if in October we get another penalty, he will go forward (as executor)," he said.
