Chelsea Defeated Valencia, Frank Lampard Sets Bad Records
- harvested Chelsea's 0-1 defeat of Valencia on the first day of the Champions League on Wednesday (09/18 2019) morning, a very bad record for Frank Lampard. He became the first director of the Blues to be defeated in their Champions League debut.
Before that, a total of eleven previous managers were always able to avoid defeat. In fact, ten can win. The only anomaly is Gianluca Vialli. In his Champions League debut, he was unable to make a goalless draw against AC Milan at home September 15, 1999.
One interesting thing, Vialli was the first Chelsea manager, who made his debut in the Champions League. Namely, Frank Lampard finished the winning tradition that had made ten previous managers in a row.
Note that black is thus a burden for other English managers who will be in the future of Chelsea. Because, Frank Lampard was the first English manager to manage the Blues in the Champions League.
Since Vialli was launched, a total of eleven managers before Lampard who appeared in the Champions League came from abroad. Four of them are Italian. Besides Vialli, three other managers Claudio Ranieri, Roberto Di Matteo and Antonio Conte.
Chelsea manager debut related to the Champions League, there are some notes. Until Frank Lampard this season, only three managers trained outside the cage. They are Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho and Avram Grant. Three consecutive handles of the Blues after Vialli. Conte's biggest win recorded as Chelsea thrash Qarabag 6-0 September 12, 2017.
