Stop playing for racism

The racism experienced by Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku makes Marco Verratti concerned. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder believes stopping action is a way.
Lukaku faced racial attacks when Inter visited Cagliari headquarters on Monday (2/9/2019). The Belgium international was shouted at by a monkey voice by Cagliari supporters, when they wanted to execute a penalty that won their team.

Cagliari himself has condemned the harassment, while Lukaku called on soccer federations around the world to take serious steps. He also hopes that social media platforms work better to ward off racist comments.

In the past month, racism has also been experienced by other players such as Paul Pogba (Manchester United) and Tammy Abraham (Chelsea). Verratti believes stopping the match could be the answer to racism in stadium cases.

"You have to stop the match because otherwise we won't go anywhere. I know it is a big step, but we have to do it because if not 4-5 fools will always be there," he told Rai Sport.

"Lukaku's request was correct. It is up to us the players to show that we can be an example for all people. We have a big influence. If it starts with us, that is a good thing," he added, as reported by Italian Football.
