Officially, David De Gea Extends Contract with Manchester United until 2023

Speculation about the future of David De Gea at Manchester United is officially over. The national team goalkeeper officially extended his contract at Old Trafford until 2023.

De Gea landed at Old Trafford in 2011. A struggling early in his career, he turned into a Manchester United goalkeeper pillar to the present.

Since last season, England made uncomfortable with the conditions of the contract goalkeeper. Of course the contract ends in 2020.

However, on Monday (16/9) Manchester United officially announced the extension guard contract. "David De Gea has signed a long-term contract with Manchester United, which kept him at the club until 2023 with an option for a period of one year," said an official statement from Manchester United.

Manchester United's official website, De Gea claimed to be very happy to expand his contract at United. He mentioned that there was a matter of pride for him to serve the Reds.

"It is a great honor for me to spend eight years of my career with this big club, and I am honored to continue my career at Manchester United."
"Since I came, I didn't think I would play 350 times for the club. Now that my future is determined, and I want to help this team achieve what I believe, which won all the championship trophies."

De Gea also confirmed that one of England's senior, he was ready to be a role model and also guide the team players, especially young players who are currently orbited a lot in the Red Devils first team.

"As one of the senior players on my team I want to help and guide young players from the club, they know what it means to play for this club."

Reportedly in England, De Gea is the highest paid player at Manchester United today.

He receives a salary of around 13.5 million pounds per year after tax
