Toni Kroos plans to retire after the 2020 European Cup

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos plans to retire from the German national team after the 2020 European Cup.

Kroos took part in Joachim Loew's team when he won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. But since then, bad luck continues to hit Die Panzer. They fell to France in the 2016 European Cup semifinals and had to be eliminated in the 2018 World Cup group stage.

Now they are trying to improve their lot by winning the 2020 European Cup. This competition can be a farewell event for Toni Kroos with the German national team.

"After the tournament, this will be a good time to think about it, I will not kill myself if I end my career without ever winning the European Cup," Kroos told Soccerway.

Kroos was sidelined to defend Germany in matches against Belarus and Estonia in June. He asked for a break after a difficult season with Madrid.

"In my opinion, I want and need to be here permanently with important matches coming up. At the end of last season, I was a little more tired than usual, because I spent a lot of energy getting out of more negative phases, I also had physical problems, "Kroos added.

Kroos himself has registered 92 choices to Germany. He also contributed 14 goals.
