Technology that saved Dovi-Quartararo from Crash in the UK

Andrea Dovizioso and Fabio Quartararo suffered no serious injuries in a collision in the British MotoGP. There is technology in racing suits that makes them safe in an accident. What is that
Driver safety is a concern for MotoGP organizers. In all categories, 88 racers have been killed in accidents on the track since 1949.

As a result, MotoGP also continues to improve runner safety. The innovation was carried out since 2018 by giving airbags to runners' clothes.

This airbag will inflate right before the collision with asphalt. Alpinestars is developing technology to reduce collisions with this asphalt.

An example of using this airbag was seen during a collision between Dovizioso and Quartararo. Both had an accident in the first round of the Silverstone Series race in England on August 25, 2019.

At that time, Quartararo fell in the middle of the track shortly after the start of the race. The French racer then collided with the carousel Dovizioso, which spun behind him to make Italiano float.

The airbags mounted on the Dovizioso suit increase by 150 milliseconds before touching the ground. Quartararo airbags increased by 60 milliseconds before their first impact with asphalt.

Even though he lay on the edge of the track, the two runners could still be saved. This is made possible by a combination air bag to reduce the impact, although Quartararo suffers from a concussion.

Dovizioso was immediately tested in Misano, Italy, four days after the race. Like Dovizioso, Quartararo can also participate and even be the fastest of the fourth 2019 MotoGP test.
