Only Honda is Ready to Perform in Qatar 2020 MotoGP Race
The Repsol Honda rider, Marc Marquez, during his action at the Losail Circuit, during the 2020 MotoGP preseason test,

Carmelo Ezpeleta as the number one person in MotoGP. MotoGP opening series 2020 which actually took place this weekend had to be postponed.

Corona virus outbreak is the cause. In order to prevent the Covid-19 case from spreading in his country, Qatar made travel restrictions, one from Italy.

Italy is the third country in the world with the most cases of corona virus. As of March 3, there were 2,502 confirmed cases.

On Sunday (3/3/2020) Qatar required all flight passengers from Italy to undergo quarantine for a minimum of 14 days.

A similar policy also applies to Italian citizens and guests who have been in Italy in the past two weeks.

In fact, there are many Italians in the MotoGP ecosystem. Dorna noted there were around 500 people from the State of Piza who came to be involved in the Qatar 2020 MotoGP series.

"They [the Qatari government] asked us and we made a list of all the Italians in paddock," Ezpeleta told Onda Cero.

"We did it on Friday and sent it along with their name, origin and flight, so we can guarantee a faster corona virus test," he added.

Unfortunately, Dorna Sports's efforts did not produce results. The special treatment they tried to negotiate with the Qatari government was rejected.

Dorna then considered the final step, which was to hold a MotoGP race with contestants and improvised equipment.

Incidentally, all motorbikes were left in Doha after the MotoGP pre-season test at the Losail Circuit on February 22-24. All technicians in Japan also stay there.

The only problem is that there are six Italian racers who are absent namely Andrea Dovizioso, Danilo Petrucci, Valentino Rossi, Franco Morbidelli, Francesco Bagnaia, and Andrea Iannone.

However, the idea put forward by Dorna was rejected. Of the 11 teams that mentas in MotoGP, there is only 1 who is willing to compete.

"Of all the teams in MotoGP, the only one who wants to race is [Repsol] Honda," Ezpeleta added.

"I spoke with all the team managers and Alberto Puig told me to hold the race in modest conditions."

The Qatar GP racing series will continue on schedule.

However, the show at the Losail Circuit on March 6-8 will only show races from the Moto2 and Moto3 racing categories.

The 2020 MotoGP inaugural race can only be held on April 5 at the Americas Circuit, Austin, United States.
