Owen doubted the sharpness of Marcus Rashford

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen doubts Marcus Rashford's sharpness in front of the opponent's goal and says he lacks the killer instinct to score on a regular basis.

Since joining the United senior team, Rashford immediately looks impressive. He scored many goals for the Red Devils.

Then, the 21-year-old player was immediately trusted to fill the national team attack line. And since the middle of last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was assigned to oversee the Red Devils attack line.

This season, Rashford has made four appearances for United in the Premier League. He scored two goals and added help.

In total, he appeared 174 times for MU in all competitions. He scored 47 goals and 27 assists.

Doubt Owen

Rashford's two goals were all against Chelsea. Since then, he hasn't managed to score, even from the penalty spot. As a result, Owen also doubted that Rahsford could become MU's top scorer.

"I don't think he wants to score," said Owen at the launch of his autobiography, Reboot, reported by Goal International.

"I think it was an overall performance, playing with goals, help, everything, he is a complete player who is better than me," he exclaimed.

"He has an extraordinary touch and general skills that I have never had, but he does not have the killer instinct I have. I am very obsessed with myself [scoring goals]. Robbie Fowler, Sergio Aguero or Harry Kane - obsessed with goals. I don't think he's obsessed with goals, "he said.

Cannot train instinct

Owen knew what he was talking about. He himself was a very fierce striker when he played for the first time, especially at Liverpool.

He knows that a person's abilities can be improved by practice. But it is not possible for someone to be able to train their instincts or natural instinct to score goals.

"You can certainly improve your finishing skills, but I don't think you can improve your instincts and I don't think you can improve what you already have," he said.

"I know that Rashford was never a central striker when he was a child, he always wanted to play offshore or in tenth place and I know his coach at the academy Man Utd always encouraged him to follow the ball, to kick the ball and enter the penalty area, to become a goal scorer, "he said.

"That was never really his wish, he was still outside the penalty box, nice touch and whatnot." He will always score lots of goals and he is a very talented player, but when you "Talk about Aguero, who has coolness and thinks constantly to score, I don't think he does," he said.

During his career, including Manchester United, Michael Owen has participated 482 times in all competitions. He scored 222 goals plus 24 assists.
