This is the reason Bale prefers Tottenham over MU

London - Gareth Bale prefers Tottenham Hotspur, although he has also been the target of Manchester United. Bale's agent revealed the reason his client refused MU.

Bale has officially become Tottenham's new player for the 2020/2021 season. The announcement of him joining the club from North London was announced on Sunday (20/09/2020).

The Welsh star was loaned to The Lilywhites from Real Madrid for one year. Apart from Bale, Tottenham also brought Sergio Reguilon from Los Blancos for 30 million pounds.

Before being announced as Tottenham's new signing, Bale was linked with a move to other top clubs. One that is widely mentioned is MU.

Manchester United have reportedly been eyeing Gareth Bale since the summer of 2019. However, the Red Devils did not take quick steps to get the former Southampton player, until they finally lost to compete with Tottenham Hotspur who were faster (fast moving) to bring Bale.

This statement was made by Jonathan Barnett as Bale's agent. According to him, Tottenham through his club president, Daniel Levy, immediately worked with the move of the left-handed player from Madrid to North London.

"It's basically a conversation between [Tottenham President] Daniel Levy and myself. When the topic came up, I suggested he and Daniel were interested," Barnett told BBC Sport.

"So that's how it happened, without magic and through long chats. Daniel Levy has long been interested in bringing Gareth back," he added.

"There is always a reason why the transfer fails to happen. It's only a matter of the right moment, those who move first," concluded Barnett about Gareth Bale's choice to join Tottenham Hotspur instead of Manchester United.
